Chad Crowe was born in the small university hamlet of Pullman, Washington, in the spring of 1973, where his father was a rocket scientist and his mother worked in the public schools. Surrounded by nothing but wheat fields and fraternities, the environment encouraged creativity, and young Chad took up drawing to fend off the threat of crushing boredom.

While his brother would prod him to take dips of chewing tobacco and ride off through the wheat fields on motocross bikes with his friends, Chad chose to stay in the comfort of his room and copy the comic strips and editorial cartoons in the newspaper, studying the ink lines and crosshatching like they were some kind of ancient language.

On a family trip to Venice at the age of eleven, Chad was sketched by a sidewalk caricature artist, and he became convinced that this would be the ideal occupation for him. His parents laughed and entertained him with this possible career choice, quite sure that the naivety would eventually dissipate and he would go on to more academically and financially viable pursuits, but, as it were, they were stone cold wrong.

After graduating from Pullman High School, he attended a series of art schools and universities, with the dream of becoming a professional cartoonist or illustrator. Years later, Chad has earned two Bachelors Degrees, and his illustrations have appeared in magazines and newspapers across the country.

Along the way, Chad met his wonderful and creative wife Brenda, with whom he shares a house in Portland, Oregon. It should be noted that his parents are also very proud of him. Chad's hobbies include writing about himself in the third person, and he is admired for his extreme humbleness.
